Shoe Paranoia

Melbourne

This is a composite of seven individual photographs taken on the same day. The shoes taken through glass at a shopping complex (100mm macro hard against the glass) and photos taken of $100, $50, $20 notes flat on a dark background. Notes were then extracted from their background, sized to fit and then warped, copy/pasted onto themselves multiple times.
Multiple layer/Masks were used to set shadows on each note to represent the appropriate lighting directions.
Shoes were then extracted from their more complex backgrounds, sized to fit. pasted onto note and rotated and warped slightly to fit direction of light. All shadows were then drawn with a combination of lassoo tool/mask/levels/blur tool.
As each layer was completed it was merged down to reduce the memory requirements of PS. Estimated about 5 hours of tedious work, but fun and good PS practice.

Amazing, Bob. And thanks for the detailed explanation. More than 90% of it I did not even understand, let alone being able to do myself. I have lots and lots to learn! Wow, you are good at this. Regards jnconradie

Nicely done, Bob. You've put a lovely flow into this image with the warping of the $$$ and your compositional choice. As a really minor nit, I think you could have added a bit of soft shadow on the bills from the front pair of shoes but that is just one man's opinion. Again, very nicely done, Imelda Marcos sends her kudos as well. -Michael

Thank you Traveller, Julie and Elena. I was going to add notes from Aus as well but it got a little too busy so I thought I would use the US dollars whilst they still have some value... LOL.

Elena I went shopping for the best shoes... these cost a small fortune... it seems the less you get, the more they cost? The dollars represented here are close to what the shoes actually cost.

Ummm.... perhaps I should explain..... WINDOW shopping ... actually! :-)
