Ok, I'll buy that (no pun intended)! :) Thanks. ~ Lonnit

Lonnit, I think it's the sunglasses that give it that fashion feel. The shades are in stark contrast to her attractive, confident expression. It could easily be an advert for them and therefore suggestive of fashion. Very nice shot. -Najinsky

Eh, that's pretty vague. LOL! Of course it would involve clothing and accessories; I'm more interested in the specifics of the "aesthetic". For example, here, Lee felt the sense of the genre, despite the fact that no location is included. I don't know that one could grasp much of a story line from it either. His, although specific to this particular image, gave more detailed analysis. I guess there are books on the subject which I should look into. :) Thanks for trying! :) ~ Lonnit

Lonnit, here is nice "safe" definition, courtesy of Wikipedia:

"Fashion photography is a genre of photography devoted to displaying clothing and other fashion items. Fashion photography is most often conducted for advertisements or fashion magazines such as Vogue, Vanity Fair, or Allure. Over time, fashion photography has developed its own aesthetic in which the clothes and fashions are enhanced by exotic locations and story lines."

Any suggested changes/additions? :-)

That helps for this image... don't know if that's all there is to it. Anyone game on a definition of fashion photography? ~ Lonnit

Here is what led me to the comment:

wind blown hair
shades
bleached processing
does not look like direct eye contact

I hope that helps. 8-)

Thanks, gentlemen.

Lee, you're right, it does have that fashion-shot feel. Now, tell me, so I can replicate the genre when I desire, what makes a fashion-shot a fashion-shot? I've been wondering about that recently anyway, so I'm glad you brought it up.

Nico, I really did laugh out loud at the hair comment! As for the processing, I used the Nic Effects "old photo BW" filter, followed by a Lucis Art. The Nic made it nice, but the Lucis gave it pop. ~ Lonnit

:-) In the previous Challenge, with "Feelings Book", you had a single strand of hair out of place; this time around you have not a single strand of hair in place! :-)

Creative portraiture work, as always, Lonnit. And of course also interesting processing work. Would you care to eloborate a bit on how you achieved this bleached-yet-high-contrast "feel"? Regards jnconradie
