Michael, thanks for the honest feedback. Your images have an almost unmistakable signature of superb lighting, rich contrasts and screen defying resolution. So, coming from yourself it is especially useful feedback on the performance of this lens. I have been putting together a gallery of my better images taken with this lens and I have to agree I have yet to get one that really 'pops'. Regards -Najinsky

Najinsky, in all honesty I can't say I'm overly impressed with the lens...it lacks a certain depth and richness to my eye. That being said, I agree with Nico that this is a wonderful shot on your part. -Michael
Thanks for the generous compliment Nico. The Tamron is a recent addition. I've been wrestling with options for some travelling in August. I've looked at some P&S and I may still give the new olympus 410/510 a try if it arrives in time, but in the meantime I decided to try the 20Ds viewfinder/sensor/battery with this 'do it all' lens. A lens covering such large range is obviously about compromises. There is some CA and slight distortion at the extremes and the ratio of keepers is still quite low, but improving. However, the number of keepers when you don't take the camera with you is about zero, and if I get a really special shot, then CA and distortion can be fixed, so I think the lens may have its place. - Najinsky
Super, Najinsky! That Tamron lens is one I have not heard of, but judging from this result, it seems to deliver really well! The detail, colour and composition is of course first class, and then having the patience until "the tempted one" comes to sit in exactly the right spot, is outstanding. Did you do this hand-held? Lovely stuff. Regards jnconradie
