The Valley of the Moon

Jack London

The novel Valley of the Moon is a story of a working-class couple, Billy and Saxon Roberts, struggling laborers in Oakland at the Turn-of-the-Century, who left the city life behind and searched Central and Northern California for a suitable farmland to own. (Wikipedia)

Thanks Michael, it certainly makes a difference. I guess I need to invest in "real" image editing software at some point. I'm still using the program that came bundled with my computer.

Lovely landscape and this does look like Jack London's N. CA. I like the looks of the of the barn against the trees and grass and the hazy mountains in the background. CJ

Apologies, Jim, I just saw your post. You can see the results of a velvia action on this image at:http://www.pbase.com/mtpuff/image/78768098 . I'll remove the image after the challenge. -Michael

Michael,

What is a velvia action and where can I see what you did?

A lovely and classic pastoral composition. The hills really make this image special for me, they are gorgeous. I experimented with a velvia action on this image and strongly suggest it because the saturation brings out the richness in all of the hues. -Michael

Jim, I think your photograph is perfectly suitable for this book. Well done! Where in the world do you guys find all these interesting old buildings! The bright colours fade beautifully into the different layers of distance... superb. A photograph where I certainly could not think of any suggestions for improvement/change. Just great!
