7th Place The Rime of the Ancient Mariner by Melbob

Melbourne

The Rime of the Ancient Mariner relates the supernatural events experienced by a mariner on a long sea voyage.
Ah, wretch, said they / the bird to slay / that made the breeze to blow)
Day after day, day after day,
We stuck, nor breath nor motion;
As idle as a painted ship
Upon a painted ocean.

Water, water, everywhere,
And all the boards did shrink;
Water, water, everywhere,
Nor any drop to drink.

Thanks Nico, Jim, Bernie and Traveller Oh yes I meant to fix that blotch Nico, easier to notice when the monitor is a little brighter. Will attend to it shortly.

This is a model that one of my students built for me many years ago. It is a replica of 'The Golden Hind' about two feet long. I removed the glass case and set it up with shots from all angles. I went to the beach and shot the water and a 'molly hawk' ... next best thing to fabled 'Black Albatross' (lol). Then went to work with Mssrs Adobe.

Been busy up north building the frame for my brother's house so not much time for shootin until now.

Much appreciate your comments, ~ Regards Melbob

I love ships and boats and all things nautical. I looked at this several times before I even nticed the bird- not a bad thing, there is just so much here. I really like the use of different focal points.

One of my all-time favourite pieces of poetry. Many, many moons ago when the earth was still unpolluted and I a lot younger, I could recite long stretches of this from memory! And the vision you produced here, suits the mood of the poem wonderfully. Uncle S.T. would have been pleased, I am sure.

Are these model ships/boats?? I presume so. Your photoshopping skills are clearly way beyond mine. (On my monitor, there is a strange dark textured "patch" showing up in the top-left corner, which could possibly be unintentional?)

Compliments and regards jnconradie
