Thank you, Victor. I'd no intention of taking out the hair, as yes, they do belong - albeit size and compression have done them a disservice here. ~ LOnnit

Lonnit, This is one of the nicest portraits I've seen from you. And leave the stray lock. It belongs there, in my opinion. -- Victor

Trav, it all depends on the type of portrait it is. If it's a very conservative portrait, then no, you wouldn't want a single hair out of place. If it's more casual, anything goes. However, as always, if you're going to break the rule, you must break it hard in order to not appear as an error or oversite. Individual stray hairs should always be retouched. In this image, it's a group of strays so it simply implies that the image was taken outdoors on a breezy day and there's a freeform casualness to the image. In the original, the hairs are a bit more prominent - resizing and compression has taken them down a bit here, where they are bordering on being too few, almost looking like an error. I would have preferred they retain their original strength. Had the original looked like this, I'd likely have retouched them out or trashed the image. But, as with the lettering that suffered in the compression, so has the hair. Hope that answers your question, and thank you for the compliment. :) ~ Lonnit

This is nice Lonnit, and not a criticism at all, but as the Portrait Artist you are, what do you do with the stray hair? Do you want it there? Should I be very careful with my models in this regards? Thanks, Traveller

Thanks, Nico. I didn't actually do anything different on that lettering. It seemed to be acting qwerty, ugh, I mean quirky in photoshop. I'd thought that I'd somehow only selected a portion of the text to affect, but no matter what I did to it, by reselecting the whole, it would not stop being problematic. Coverting it to jpg and smallening it only made matters worse. Like you say, it's about the photo anyway. :) ~ Lonnit

Super, Lonnit. The young lady was of course instantly recognizable... and the shot looks incredibly natural (like the strand of hair) and "real", capturing a sense of "feelings... and emotions". Well done on the lighting as well.

Yes, I can see this on a cover of this book. No question.

(I think I understand why you had to use different lettering over the dark of her hair compared to over the lighter portions, but somehow, the transition from one style to the other seems a bit to drastic. This, however, is very much a side comment. It is after all about photography here, not graphic design or lettering and fonts.)

Kind regards jnconradie
