OK, should I take back what I said about people welcoming you into their lives? LOL Glad you got back safely with some photos and a bunch of stories to show for your experience.

I have worried about the young man in the foreground, (named Elvis...honest), and the way the figures are darker as you move into the image...but there is no electricity, and Evis is illuminated by light falling through a large double sided door....this is Iquitos, the Preuvian side of the Amazon river system...and the light at the equator is always harsh.

Elvis was my guide and we explored the river in a small canoe. However, we eventually came to an unhappy parting in that I wanted a larger boat to go further up river...something he resented and honestly never got over.

It became ugly...as happens in life....and Elvis did what he could to make my stay in that river town uncomfortable for the remainder of the time I was there.

I was good with this...he was allowed to do as he wished, as was I...it was my placid cheerfullness in the face of his anger that really made him crazy.

Hey, nobody said that life would be easy for any of us.

Thanks for looking.

Best Wishes,

Traveller

Traveller, you certainly carry a lot of heart into your photos and into your travels. It's no wonder that people seem to welcome you into their lives.

Looks like a NG image :). That skeleton in the background is a classic! Cindy

Well, I like the orange clock and the fact that the rocking chair was hand made from pieces of small steel bars laying along the entry to the dump. But it works nice having been welded together.

I think that this family would hang anything colorful on their walls....I do not know if the chart has a any larger meaning or purpose.

But look at the blue of those walls, the orange clock, the color they try to add to their lives...but most importantly the smiles...these people are happy, at least at this moment...it comes and goes for them as it does for all of us.

I see these images of mine as my Dorothea Lang attempts...and in a sense I like mine better.

I also see this as an independently important image...for the viewer, if they bring their heart with them.

For me, it just has sat on my Hard Drive abandoned for 18 or so months...I am glad I have brought it to life, (at least for me). This is not necessarily a pretty image, it is not meant to be...it is meant to be significant....something true about the human condition.

Best Wishes,

Traveller

Traveller, I like that you bring us these glimpses into your travels. Happy indeed. I like the skeletal chart on the wall...reminiscent of Dia de los Muertos or just decoration? -Michael
