Homage to O. Winston Link

Lenox, MA.

O. Winston Link was an early pioneer in the use of flash for night photography. His set ups for railroad pictures were extremely intricate. I am particularly impressed with the fact that he made an effort to have a human presence in his images, he wasn't just photographing trains but a whole culture. There is a short, interesting biography with some of his images here: http://www.linkmuseum.org/index-1.html

Thanks, Traveller, Daniel and Mary Anne! This was not a grab shot but a carefully orchestrated night shoot at the local railroad museum. Someone brought a huge portable flash and ran around firing it off while we had our shutters open. It was a very interesting evening! ~Sharon

Amazing clarity and lack of noise for a night shot.

This really excellent...almost tacitile in its depth and rich B&W tones...I can almost touch it. Best wishes, Traveller
