2nd Place~Man Ray~By Michael Puff

This piece has been in the back of my mind since the component pieces were shot (outside the challenge period) but I've never gotten around to finishing it. Traveller's excellent topic spurred me to get off my duff and finish it.

Debbi, the instrument is a violin. It is certainly out of proportion to the size of a human (but I don't think Man Ray would mind), hence you might well wonder if it is a larger string instrument. It is actually the model's violin. He's a very talented musician. -Michael

Uploaded a new version which softens the transition of the curve on the strings. Thanks to all for the input. -Michael

Great concept and a beautiful image..almost perfect. The strings have lost some definition and the bend on the.. neck.. grip (?) is also a little abrupt, I would have attempted a smoother curve there. Just to say something :) This is very elegant.

Not hard to guess the Artist for this one! Wonderful concept beautifully executed! The top part of the neck of the instrument looks a little odd to me, maybe it should be under his hair to make it appear more like part of his body? Just musing though, it's a fantastic image as is! CJ

Fantastic. Now this is ART. I can't imagine anything that would fit the challenge theme better than this. Just wonderful. I, too wish this could be in eligible, but in the end, what difference does it make? Jim H.

LOL, thanks. I wouldn't think this image would be too hard to guess since I've posted with this model in a previous challenge. I will wish that everyone who is interested in photographing models should get as lucky as I to work with such a talented individual. I explained the concept and bingo, it was in front of me. And yes, the Man Ray image which inspired me was in my mind back in Nov when the component pieces were shot.

On third thought, I can guess who did the wonderful work...but even for you, this is Exceptional.

Best Wishes,

Traveller, naw, nothing shot recently, all shot in November. However, all the pieces were shot with this specific composite in mind...I just never completed it. But hey, Exhibition is good. At least you finally got me to finish the concept. Thanks!!!

Special dispensation....My God, this belongs in Eligible! If you don't move this over I will.Winner, winner, winner...it's my challenge and I make the rules.

Was nothing shot recently?

Hummmm...Now I'm really torn.

Best Wishes,
