A Wiley Cracker Crosses the Line

Don't ask me...I was going to use this as a place holder while I worked again on The Tie That Binds, but when I did that, that seemed unfair. I was shooting pink Q-tips as a forest...but also shot this cracker...so, per Melbob's instructions I finally used the extraction tool...and per someone else's instructions, I used a gradient map, twice...late at night, we grow fond of our constructions...lol

Good one Traveller... You obviously spent some time on this, great idea. Just to add a little more tedium to your work of art you might use the clone tool and one or two pixel size brush to zoom right in and remove that slight edge contrast particularly on the top RHS near the 'edge' dividing line and also directly opposite on the lower LHS near the line.... or perhaps even use the 'blur tool' at about 3 pixel size brush and slightly fuzz the sharp edge so it looks more natural. After that some carefully constructed shadows to give the 'bikky' a 3D look..('short for biscuit'..we don't usually call them cookies down here)! It would be interesting to hear how others do that... 'shadow' things that don't have prominant shadows. I like seeing your hard work Trav. it must really soak up any 'spare' time you might have otherwise had? ~ Regards Melbob

You know, as a final thought...this damned thing makes me laugh everytime I look at it. Other people may have different reactions...but I like also the giggle factor. Best Wishes, Traveller

Thanks for understanding, Mary Anne. Many people are proficent with PS, and I am to a small degree...but it is almost embarrassing when someone comments, "Oh, you should use a Gradient Map with that." Or, "why are you using the Lasso Tool, use the ExtractionTool," and you don't even know what they are. You go, "Sure, Thanks...." But deep inside there is a realization that they know something you do not...which is Okay, it's the nature of the world, we all know different things. But, what the heck, even if I never use these tools again if only because they don't serve my style of shooting...at least I now know what they are and what they do.
