On second thoughts, the blue vanes are fixed so they would be the delivery side of the turbine system... a very inefficient system though, a single rotar?.... definitely not your usual gas turbine... and not the fluid flywheel I originally thought...so water/fluid would have to be delivered under high pressure to drive the rotar... SO...you could be on the right track Victor?... Melbob

Those curvy fins look like they belong to a turbine. If there are elecromagnets off-camera or something, I'd guess this is an illustration of a hydroelectric generator. -- Victor

How about "a Torque converter" or "fluid Flywheel" coupling between an engine and a gearbox. Not out of a passenger car though, too heavy and those straight cut gears would be too noisy?.... Melbob
