Lol, you may have a point Bob. Actually, that used to be my view on Grappa and 99.99% do indeed seem unfit for conscious consumption. I was then introduced to a very special Sassicaia derived Grappa and was forced to change my mind. The one below is not that one, but is still highly palatable. Thanks for the comments all. - Najinsky

Isn't that an "oxymoron"??? 'fine and grappa'?.... or is that what happens after one drinks it? (LOL).... Nice pic BTW... Regards Melbob

Well done Doctah! Grappa it be, and very fine grappa at that. The picture is of the presentation case that adorns the bottle. As well as being the subject of a CSLR challenge, Grappa is also the subject of a WTO dispute between Italy and South Africa over 'ownership' and is allegedly an aincient preventative measure against exploding cattle (!)

I'm going to guess that it's a grappa barrel. Appears to be italian, it's a "founder's reserve", but the clue that gets me is what appears to be distillation of the grapes. That's why I'm guessing grappa. I'm guessing this plate is on a barrel used for aging the grappa. -The Doctah

No I cannot! The only thing I can guess that this relates to wine and that too because it should some grapes and glass at the top! but that's as far as I can go, Mr/Ms X. Wonderful combination of wood and metal and the colors are wonderful! -Cat
