How would you choose the winner of the "Constructive Criticism" challenge? Maybe post before/after shots and decide who improved the most? I think people refrain from commenting because they think (a) the photographer knows better than they do, or (b) they don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. I think the key is to have a wide-open challenge where everyone can get a decent shot in the two-week period. More people submitting images = more people looking at the galleries = more comments. As it is, challenges tend to feel like a club with a few dominant members. No one is excluded, but I certainly forgive them for feeling like the challenges aren't really for them. -bee1000

Thanks Bee! Critiques are what I wanted and sharp of you to notice the (?) strip near the fish head on the right. What that is is another fish swimming forward which I thought I had cropped out. Obviously I am guilty of overlooking "details," but I sure will go on back in and clone out the obstruction. Thanks again. shu

BTW, can we have a challenge where all photos are entered for the sole purpose of receiving constructive criticism, in fact, expecting to receive many critiques? Who knows why folks stay away from images. Maybe they have some very good (and constructive) reasons for doing so. I think negative comments can be handled tactfully and some of us would learn a bit about what goes into the thought processes when member's eyeball our works. What do you think? Would this open a can of worms? shu

I think it looks great, even better considering the circumstances. I don't think I would change anything. It might have been better to see more to the left and the right, but I like it regardless. Wait - I just noticed something: The fish head in the background doesn't extend all the way to the edge of the frame! What's up with that? - bee1000

Thanks. This was shot through aquarium glass. The place was very dark and the waters murky. The fish were on the move but I managed to capture at least one composition I liked. I did some burning, sharpening and noise removal. Not a likely
challenge winner, but I like it. Critiques appreciated. shu

A rather grumpy / unfriendly looking character, not so! Murky waters indeed. Please let us know whom to thank for the contribution. Regards jnconradie
