The photo was taken (only) about 750 ft underground in an old mine shaft near Johannesburg, now used as gold mining museum. Philemon proudly and deftly demonstrates his craft to the daily tour groups.
Traveller, no I think this is still a problem in PBase with the EXIF data. It was pretty much pitch dark and the flash was definitely used. (The shadows from his right hand, and also from the hat/flashlight, confirm this.) Unfortunately the rock-face above was pretty low and uneven, thus ruling out a bounced flash.
Yes, I agree. Fabulous, Nico. And yet I must wonder why, with the 17~85 IS lens, you chose a relatively fast shutter speed when you could have gone much, much lower. No flash used, asa 100, you must have had fairly decent light....no? Best Wishes, Traveller
