Sneaker

My daughter was throwing these out!
I took them and told her they'd be
great to shoot. She thought I was
nuts, then handed them over. LOL!

AHA! You have fallen into my trap like all the others! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

A) Yes, this was indeed shot on a highly polished, black lacquor dining room table.
B) The room is gated off, the kids aren't allowed to play in there, so the table stays clear, except when I am mounting prints.
C) With 3 active kids, foreign objects often land on the table; you'd be amazed what I have found upon it.
D) The sneakers were found at the bottom of my daughter's closet. She brought them to me for disposal. I was shooting them for my own purpose, but found the repetition in them, so decided to enter it in the challenge. So, they do indeed qualify as found repetition. Nowhere in the rules does it state that you must leave the repetitive subject where you found it.
E) The Trap: yes, this was shot on the table, but the table does not appear in the frame! Reflection? What reflection? There is no reflection in this image! BWAHAHAHAHAHA! Look more carefully at what you believe is the refletion! It is not a mirror image - indeed, it is actually another repetion - because it is the second sneaker! The sneakers were piled one on top of the other, and placed atop a candlestick holder, elevating it off the table by about a foot. They were piled to give more shooting area that would fill the frame, since I could get no closer to the single sneaker. The repetition wasn't intentional, as the sneakers were somewhat crossed over each other at different angles, but in the back, I happened to notice that they were somewhat aligned, which ended up adding to the repetion theme, as opposed to simply mirroring the main subject.

Lonnit, did this sneaker just land on the polished surface to be photographed? The rule is “found repetition”! With three active kids, I can hardly find a semi-clean surface in my home. LOL and best regards. Sam Attal

Thanks. I was right on top of the sneaker, pushing the envelope on how close I could get. I had it right down to it's focusing limit, wide open. ~ Lonnit

I love the shallow DOF here

Sorry to disappoint, Victor - my jewel encrusted crown is out being cleaned. :)

Thanks, Bob. They had big red Ns on the sides too. I think they're New Balance, so, if anything, I'd think they should all be little NBs. :) ~ Lonnit

That's funny. From the thumbnail, I thought I was going to be looking at a jewel-encrusted crown. -- Victor

You should listen to your daughter... she might have something there? (LOL) ... but then isn't that why we do this?
It works Lonnit but who would have thought that a pair of unwanted/discarded sneakers would be a topic for capture/competition/discussion?

Where they made by somebody who stutters? or is that a whole bunch of ZZZZZZZ's sideways symbolic of rest and relaxation???... who knows?

Anyway!.... you made it work... kudos to you Lonnit... well done ~ Regards Bob
