So very clever. Simple and yet very striking, and of course I like humour :)

Interesting photo, Lee. I like it. I also liked your 359° gallery, both the photos and the flash app. Very cool.

Ann,

Thanks for the comments. Yes, I had my mind wiped clean for this shot. 8-)

I look forward to seeing one of your paintings. Post it in one of the challenge threads.

You could have a challenge entry there, with the empty canvas and the scene you are about to paint. Just a thought.

Thanks Melanie for your kind words.

Hmmmm... are you implying you are full of empty thoughts? (Joke!) I love this.

And I enjoyed the conversation between you and Lonnit. I've been going through a similar change in my painting. Feels great to step away from the known and plunge into something nearer to my center and less derivative. My photography is not changing much while this is going on. But I'm finding that some of my photos are becoming great subjects for paintings. These are often the ones that didn't work well as photographs but had something special that came alive in paint. Some day I'll put up a gallery with the original photos and the paintings I made using them as material...

But this isn't about me is it. ;-) Great work Lee!

Yes - here too. It became the point when I really started to break rules. But I was ready by then. You have to know the rules before you can break them. I learned the rules here. I learned it was ok to break them there. :) ~ Lonnit

It just helped me see that there was more to photography than the pursuit of perfection.

Aww, thank you, Lee. So I guess it was at the point you got Flickrized, that your work took a more daring turn, huh? You'd always done nice work, but then I felt there was suddenly a point where you stepped your game up - going from photographer to artist. You knocked my socks off.

Bruce and Olaf had done this as well. I don't know what Bruce did, but it was like he suddenly ate his Wheaties and took a huge step up. I don't think so much that it was his style that changed, but just the overall quality skyrocketed. Again, he was a good photog prior, and then BAMMO! He even went and won both categories in one challenge! YEESH!

I felt the same surge in Olaf, at the time he started "shooting from the heart". He'd done a series where he didn't look thru the viewfinder. It gave his work a whole new perspective. It was still good, technically, but it made him feel the images more, by taking his mind off all the technical stuff and just concentrating on the scene in front of him. I was shocked by this new style of his, and had to ask him what on earth he did to accomplish this. He said he was feeling a bit uneasy about letting people know he was shooting, so he didn't look thru the viewfinder, and instead, held the camera to his chest. The results were wonderful!

So, I guess some people have distinct turning points. I've done lots of experimenting, often based on something that inspired me in a magazine, or on line, but they've been different types of things, and have not completely pushed me in a new direction. I play around with them for a bit, then go on to something new. I guess I'm photographically fickle! LOL!

Keep up the GREAT work! ~ Lonnit
