I had a lot of ideas I wanted to try, but I didn't have the time.
This is merely a poor derivative from one of my ideas... time!

Canon EOS 20D ,Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 USM
1/30s f/5.6 at 50.0mm iso400 full exif

As one of the few (only???) challengers who has actually met Olaf . . . I can say it is NOT the forgiving light in this image that makes him look young. I had no idea you were that ancient Olaf! What a blessing!

This is a fun image :)

Explanation of a couple of my other ideas can be found here (this also explains how this is 'derivative'):

Thank you CJ - a lot can be done with lighting!

You know it's not fair Olaf that you look so young for your age - we woman are very jealous! Great SP - well done. :-) CJ

I like this! You have done better than what I would have done :) This was my back-up plan in case I can't come up with anything in the limited time I saw the challenge topic. Nice to meet you Olaf! Finally! -Cat

This is great, I love it! Wonderful smile and eye, effective composition. Forty--can't be...too boyish :). ---Melanie (mlynn)

Thank you Trav and Nico. Regarding the age thing, my entire adult life I've looked younger than I actually was. The flop-side of that is that people tend to not take youngsters seriously, lol. Also, this photo is perhaps a bit deceiving, as I put myself in good (forgiving) light... Anyway, if at all possible timewise, I may still try to play with my other ideas - let's see what the next 24 hours has to bring...

Nicely done, Olaf. I like the smile ("optimistic", as Traveller also pointed out) and also your interesting use of the huge amount of "negative space" on the left. I would probably not have been brave enough to try that, but you make it work really well.

:-) And you can stop kidding about your age... there is no way that you can be 40 if that it what you look like! :-) Regards ~jnconradie

This is Soooooooooo Danish, so optimistic, so open faced...so representitive. Excellent...but you hardly look fourty....lol...a fresh faced lad at best. Traveller
