This image and the 'Maxfield Parrish' image were both created for the STF challenge 'Inside the Dream'. Sometimes I take pictures of single items, and then play around with how they might go together. It's not always thought out beforehand. Kiki--thank you very much for your 'nearly flawless' :), I don't mind nitpicking. You're absolutely right-- I think I finally gave up on trying to make a clean cut-out/mask/selection of that feather. --Melanie (mlynn)
Impressive, and very creative, both of your entries. And nearly flawless: The top edge of the feather could take some more blending, gets a little too crisp on an LCD at least. (I like to nitpick.) The rest is just about perfect. These were a joy to "discover" :)
Interestingly, Mlynn, though you may not know it, but it was this series of images of yours over on the Sony Challenge that motivated me to take up with the Canon DSLR Challenge. Whenever I saw one of your submitted images, inside myself I went, "Gosh, I'd love to be able to do something like that..."
