Didn't see the earlier version, but I like what I see. Great expression! -Cat

I think you've struck a nice balance on the background blur. This looks good!

Curses! Well Bob, were you betting that I simply couldn't resist the urge to go back and correct this? You're right, I couldn't. :) I think I've got everything now, but who knows? The things you just don't think of when you set up something like this! I should have removed the patterned throw from the sofa before shooting. Ah well, it's all good practice.

I think that is really good Alastair, you could probably play with that for hours and we would still have our individual preferences BUT...! YOUR SECRET HAS BEEN UNCOVERED... ALAS!!! there are not really three of you are there? because I've been studying this to see if I could find fault and I discovered the give-away... yes! between the speak no & the hear no... I can see a slight discontinuity in the green stripe and its beige neighbour. SO!.. There is only two of you and ...? (LOL)

But seriously, you have done a great job with this, I know how long and painstaking it can be. Well done... ~ Bob

Thanks for the comments. As I had the layered version saved, it was easy for me to go back and redo it. For this one, I used the 'lens blur' filter, as opposed to gaussian blur, and used an intermediate setting. Does this one have the right kind of impact, without looking too artificial? Of course, it's bound to look a bit artificial, there are three of me there!

Thats a very interesting point, I think it is an improvement but as stated by Victor and Nico perhaps a little too much? One loses that 'more natural bokah' which gives the image some 3D without being too distracting. Either way, it really wont be the decider for anyone I imagine, not worth getting too concerned about, just an interesting phenomena. ~ Regards Bob

The blurred version is a big improvement, but it may be overdone just a tad. -- Victor

LOL this is fabulous; LOVE the expressions on your face, really nice. Blurred background is great!

Cheers, Vikas.

Very clever and I definitely prefer this version with the blurred background.

Oh, you guys! You are taking over the challenges with your wonderful PS expertise! This rendition of your SP is fantastic! I can just see you racing around changing shirts and caps. I also love your title and commentary. You look like some comedian (can't think who), but you have shown us your great sense of humor and I, for one, love it! shu

I blurred the background. I duplicated the background layer and applied a heavy gaussian blur to it. Then I added a layer mask set to hide all, and then painted the blur back into the background. Is this an improvement?
Thanks
Alastair

You must have an extensive collection of T-shirts Alastair, I like this and your party one as well. Regards, Bob.

Thanks. Yes, the background is a little cluttered. I might try blurring it, if i have the time.

... and even with different t-shirts and caps...! :-) Splendid. If I may be so bold as to offer a suggestion for next time: I think a different, less intrusive, background would help the shot to become even more impactful. Best wishes and regards ~jnconradie
