Thanks Shu, Aam, Cheryl, Michael and Mary Anne - I appreciate the comments! and Cheryl, I'll have to remember myself not to say too much about an image - often I don't really want to know how an image was made either, until after the challenge! :-) CJ

Great shot, CJ...and perfect in b/w. Don't change a thing!

A totally elegant piece. Wonderful lines, textures, and composition. One of the challenge topics I had written down as a possibility is "shoes" :-) -Michael

This is great, just so drawing. I wish people wouldn't tell things like, "It's my husbands workshoes" because left to the imagination, this picture can bring forth such great stories. I'm making a mental note not to tell the simple version to the boots but rather just leave it open for thought LOL. Anyway super shot!

Heard/read somewhere that the person's language affect the way their eye enters a photo. For English the movement is from left to right, other languages have different direction --- aam1234

This image drew my attention due to its great lighting and composition. I find myself off-centering to the left and I never analyzed why that is. It just "feels" more comfortable. But that's a good point when figuring why people prefer certain images. shu

Thanks Aam, Lonnit and Mark. This was mostly a found image as my husband had taken off his boots while sitting on a cedar chest in the background, which did not really show up in the original photo. :-)
Lonnit, for me the primary leading lines were the laces leading the viewer into the image and secondarily, the pattern formed by the sun shining in from the window on the right. I tried flipping the image as you suggested but found It "uncomfortable" viewing it with all the negative space on the left. I think that being right handed myself, I generally prefer images visually weighted more heavily on the left leaving me some empty space on the right. It would be interesting to hear what others think about these "unconscious feelings" we have when either composing or viewing an image. CJ

Nicely caught the textures of the boots with the light. I'll disagree with Lonnit (it's my job lol) and say that I happen to like the comp as it is, no need to reverse for me.
Nice work. Markjay

Very nice! I'd consider flipping it around, for those of us that write from left to right b/c the leading lines lead us away from the subject into nothingness. ~ Lonnit
