Near perfection, beautiful color. I did a similar shot sometime ago, but with four gobletshttp://www.pbase.com/charette/image/28978166 I know how difficult it is to get the stems all lined perfectly. Your light and lineup are stunning! I particularly like the tonal range from shadows to red... really gives this a three demensional look. I might clone out the slight imperfection in the background near the 5th base (a minor point for sure).

I very much enjoyed my visits to the image. My compliments!

I'm glad as well that you moved this to eligible. I only have one little nit to pick about the composition. The stems of the glasses aren't lined up. It's a minor detail, but if corrected, the picture would be near perfect. -- Victor

Gorgeous shot; am so glad you decided to move this to Eligible.

Cheers, Vikas.

After struggling a lot with the decesion, I finally decided to replace this one with a full glass version I had in exhibition. The original is now moved to the exhibition. -Cat

When we were looking through the gallery in our family, the room was filled with many "oohs and aahs" when we came to this one! Excellently done. Compliments. ~jnconradie

Thank you Chris, Carrole, Jim, Cheryl, Judi. I really appreciate the +ve feedback.
Jim, I did evaluate a crop of this version as you suggested. I have to agree its quite subjective. Both have their charms. Once cropped, I don't miss the top part at all and the picture is complete in its own way. Also uncropped, it shows a nice interesting stream of light flowing down to illuminate the subject and makes the rim of the last glass glow, as if hot silica is being poured in to a mold to make the wine glasses, may be a scene from the foundry. The darkened top corners gives directions to the stream too. Not sure what I should do. May be I am seeing too much into it. Any suggestions, anyone? -Cat

I do like this better too. The color is nice and the alignment of things in the frame is even better than before. I might be tempted to crop some from the top of the frame, though. Maybe about halfway between the tops of the glasses and the present top of the frame. But this is all so subjective! Neat shot :) Jim H.

I like this better than the original too Cat. Very striking! CJ

Cat, I like this better than the original, nice job. However, did you know that you have six glasses? Just kidding. Chris

Thank you for all the expert comments and opinions! I have reshot this. Better now?
The major change here is the lighting, if you notice. The top of the rims are still aligned, but they look recessed because of the prism effect. -Cat

I have a hard time coming up with a way in my mind to improve this shot. I really love the way the top rims of the glasses all are aligned and the bottoms of the bowls too. The only thing that's a bit out of place are the feet of the 2nd and 3rd? glasses for some reason.

I wonder if you could just cut a piece of thin, white card-stock out so that it would block our view of those feet. I'd leave the stem in the very foreground visble, though. Ideally, that piece that blocks our view would not be visible itself. I'm not sure how that would work out.

I guess that I just really like the image because of the tops and the view through the bowls so I hate to see the angles and distances altered. I'd just like to have those two feet removed for some reason.

All of this is easier said than done, of course! Jim H.

Thank you all for the hints, Will see what can be done to fix this....... May be a reshoot :)
Doctah, Not sure if I want to take credit for the 655mm. I think Pbase has a new algorithm in place to calculate the equiv. Check out other entries which have Exif info uploaded. It might have some kinks in it though.

How are you coming up with the 35mm equivalent focal lengths? 70x1.6=112 -Doctah

I really like the idea as well and think it could be cleaned up, but I'm not sure how to recommend how. There doesn't seem to be a clear five in here. If there are exactly five glasses, it's hard to tell (and that should not necessarily be a bad thing). An idea to explore to hide the bases would be to put a small amount of your favorite liquid in the bottom of each glass. I don't know if a constant of varying amount would be better. -- Victor

Cat, I like the illusion that you create here, but think that the way that some of the bases show up in the bottom half of the image clutters the image. Chris
