Flour Power

BARNEVILLE-CARTERET - FRANCE

Driving through northern France when up popped 5 windmills. Grabbed the camera and took a snap (wife was driving!)

The title comes from the discovery that these provide power to "La Maison Du Biscuit" (The cookie house), a treasure trove of a bakery, to where we were en route.

Here's what I think, it may be nonsense but please induge me!

It may be a case of two wrongs; if not making it right, at least making it less wrong! The car adds interest/distraction along the leading lines which point to 2 windmills (4th then 1st). The excess blue above the centeral alignment of the windmills is then about to expose the unbalanced composition when it is distracted by the car and so doesn't feel quite as bad as it should. But the apparent excess blue seems necessary as the initial invitation to look, because cropping it instantly dulls the scene. The joys of sleep deprivation! - Naj

Well, I keep coming back to this image and I maybe liked it exactly because the car is in the picture...kind of things on the move, in context and therefore true. Best Wishes, Traveller

Chris, many thanks for your comment. You're right about the windmills, and the car; it was an opportunist snap, with little time for composition. The rightmost windmill was about to dissapear from view so I clicked.

The colour is really the only thing I like about the image (although on the PCs where I'm working, the colours are wrong - very dull - so it must be the way I saved it, wrong colorspace perhaps).

I'm not sure how much time I will have for this challenge so I thought I would post something, and I do like those colours. - Naj

I love the color on this image! Personally I would have waited for the car to be out of the image, and I might have explored composition where the windmills didn't cut right through the center of the image. A different framing of the image might have made this more dramatic.
