Five Cannon a Guarding, (Nothing In Particular) * Traveller

On the road out of Rio de Janeiro one quickly enters mountains and what is known as the Atlantic Rain Forest. I was on my way inland to the UN Historical Site of Oro Preto, but first came Petropolis, and then Teresoplis, the Summer home of the Portguese Queen Empress Teresina. There is nothing on this road except steaming when hot, foggy when cold, rain forest. I suppose that at one time there was a road through the mountain pass here...but the hill behind rises steeply and the fall off into the valley far below is sharp and vertiginous.

There are no other fortifications or even room to build any...but this single wall with its faithful cannon stand sentinel still...guarding the way to somewhere. (Thanks for asking...I love having the excuse to write). Best Wishes, Traveller

Looking at the foliage, I don't think this was taken in the US. I like the look of the old wall with the moss all over it. Is this a fort in some far off land? CJ

I would love to know where this is, Traveller. Your exhibition entries are always interesting, typically - it seems - from some far-away, exotic, place the rest of us can only dream of... :-) Thanks for sharing the wonderful capture. Regards ~jnconradie
