Agree about the 17-85 IS USM ... it's a fantastic "consumer grade" (LOL) lens. I've not issues going to 1600 ISO and shooting handheld at night.

This is a very nice shot.

Dearest Michael: I know what you mean, I'm crazy about rotation myself. I played with this rotation-wise in processing and I just opened it again....Hummmm, the center pole is perfectly vertical, or as much so as I can test this in PS. At 38mm there shouldn't be any, or too much, barrel distortion...the left and right wall lines are pretty good but, I think they could use a very, very small CW rotation....but that would throw off the center pole...when I worked this the first time, I decided that it was the lights on the right and lack on the left that threw things off...also the horizontal beams seem to lean to the left...but this may be lighting...Damned if I know...lol Thanks for the thought. Best Wishes, Traveller

Geez, Traveller, your are really excelling at night shots. This is just dynamite. The nuances and shadings of color are superb. I also like the formality of all the geometric shapes broken soley by the soft curve in the tracks. Mebbe it's just me, but I think this could use a very slight counter clockwise rotation. -Michael

Beautiful shot, and with my favorite (and only) lense!

The title of that book is....How Canon's IS changed my life...lol

I've spent much of my life lugging around a large tripod and shooting only prime lenses...some people at the Challenges talked me into buying the 17~85 IS and my life has been changed forever. I do lots of night work...see it shoot it...but no longer do I have to pull out the tripod. This was hand-held at 1/10th of a second.

I could never do that before.

Thanks for the comment...when I drove past this, I knew that I liked it too.

Best Wishes,

Traveller

I love the atmosphere of this shot. Did you set up a tripod on the tracks?
