Given the backstory on this, it's an almost ghostly image ... particularly with the B&W processing. Poignant (as CJ mentioned), and well done.

Very poignant shot Mary Anne. I think I would have bought the dress as a beautiful piece of art in itself. CJ

Mary Anne, sorry to be confusing...I was suggesting exactly what you did, just a slight straightening of the image. What I was trying to say is that I think this slight straightening makes all those wonderful perspective lines even stronger. -Michael

Michael, I'm new to this challenge but I've seen your work here, and I certainly appreciate and value your suggestions. However, I'm not quite sure what you mean. Certainly, I can straighten the image, but getting rid of the perspective distortion is beyond my PS skills at this point. (I have a long history of being "layers-challenged," if you know what I mean.) I've replaced the original with a straightened version. Any better?

I've visited this image a number of times before getting around to comments. There's a quiet and soft but complex story here which is wonderfully echoed in the details of the image (the porch roof texture, the bricks, the hedge, the railing, the floor boards, and the gown itself). Beautifully done, Mary Anne.

Had the image been my own, I would have done a counter clockwise rotation so that the corner of the house was vertical and let all of the wonderful perspective lines play off of that vertical. Just an idea for your consideration. -Michael

Thank you, Sharon. I always wonder what stories these old "treasures" could tell.

A very poignant, Mary Anne. The work you do with social commentary in your images is outstanding. Good b&w conversion, too! ~Sharon
