power plane

Keilor

Took me an hour or so to patiently await the plane's crossing point...
I did explain to the power line riggers what I was doing and asked the boss for permission to "shoot" this structure.

Canon EOS 5D ,Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L USM
1/100s f/16.0 at 70.0mm iso100 full exif

other sizes: small medium large original auto

Nice capture. What strikes me most is how the power pole almost appears to be mimicing the plane, with ditribution coils/lines outspread like the aircraft's wings ... as if ti say "I can fly too!" :D

There have been many power pole shots but this is the best I've seen. That plane really makes the shot and that blue sky really contrasts nicely with both structures. CJ

Strong subject, good composition and, of course, the plane. Your planning and patience have really paid off.

Brilliantly done, Bob. Your patience and request for permission were well worth it. -Michael

It really did pay off.

Excellent timing I must say and the blue sky really adds to the shot.

Cheers, Vikas.

Amazing. If I tried something like this the security guards would have nabbed me for sure. Wonderful juxtaposition! -- Bruce

I liked the story behind the picture, Melbob: how you had to explain to them that you were not some spy photographer! And I also take my hat off you for being to persistent (and/or patient?). An interesting and unusual combination indeed. ~jnconradie

Thanks Jim, David and Cheryl, I had about twenty misses before I caught one that worked, made a new friend or two in the process, they applauded when I showed them and at least one is going out to buy himself a canon DSLR.

It was worth the wait :) This is beautiful. Those are some amazing power poles and the position of the jet is just great. Cool! Jim H.
