Snickers in the magical forest

I originally thought of leaving the whole flare into the image, but I cloned the distracting bit away afterwards.

I didn't think of the lines at all while taking the shot, just composition... The lines just happened :) I quess this might have also been a leading lines shot, though my idea was just to create atmosphere with the backround. I felt that square composition was the most efficient considering the pose/stance of the cat and position in frame in relation to the borders. -Arn

I like this shot. The angles of the trees accentuate things nicely. Are you sure this isn't a "leading lines" shot? And what a cute and unusual kitty! I'm a sucker for cat shots, of course :) Jim H.

No I did! :-)

I found your name embedded in the file name...

What an interesting, unusual, "weird-yet-lovely" cat picture! It looks like it could have been straight from some middle-earth type movie. Well done, Arn. ~jnconradie

Heh, I sure will! :) But tell me Matt, what the heck did you add? I did place my name myself (slightly after posting the pic). If you placed my name in to the "artist" field, maybe we did it simultaneously. Thanks anyway! -Arn

I figured out the name and added it... Great photo. looks like a top contender. Don't forget to check on the results this time.

I fixed the bright green bit of flare. It was easier than I originally thought. Sometimes of course, flares can even improve the the image. But you were right CJ, in this image, the bright green blob was a distraction - so I removed it.

Snickers is an "Oriental short hair". Here's some links to web pages about the oriental breed, that I have not personally delved into:
http://www.breedlist.com/oriental-sh-breeders.html
http://www.cfa.org/breeds/profiles/oriental.html
http://www.catsofaustralia.com/oriental.htm

Oriental is also a definition for a group of breeds that are considered to have similarities in their features. This leads to some confusion at times about the name. For example, the person who wrote the text to Wikipedia herehttp://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oriental_cat got it wrong - he didn't know that there is also a specific cat breed with the name "oriental".
Ps. If you think that Snickers looks unusual here, you might want to take a peek here too:

What an unusual cat Arn! What breed is it? I like the cat in this great forest scene - looks almost primeval, especially with the bright lighting. You might want to clone out that bright green blob in the lower left corner though. Great cat shot! CJ
