I love this image, but most of all, I appreciate your commentary on the way it was made! I'm sure we all find any and all info about the technical aspects of an image very educational and you, the master, ISO, are just the one to inform us!!! Thanks! Shu

Annimated, joyous, sparkle are all words that come to mind. I love the lighting. -Michael

I'm not quite sure about this picture. It perplexes me as to how an obviously dynamic shot manages to end up looking quite so static. Nothing moves, not a single leaf, not even the subject who's frozen there up in the air, dead center of the frame.
Just may two cents... Bogdan

Debbi, yes indeed it is a strobe. It is fired from a 1.5kw generator

Yeppers, see, I told you I'd be embrassed! Thanks for the explaination. It's still a great shot. - Pops

Newbie question.. what is a 1.5k head? Must be some kind of strobe?

Pops, believe me, this picture has had no PS whatsoever. Just a crop, resize and sharpen. It is shot at iso100, F8, with the forest being exposed at 1/100 to keep it dark, and the model is exposed with a 1.5k head fitted with a beauty dish at a speed of over 1/5000. This freezes her and makes it look a bit surreal and pasted in. The head is about 60 degrees to the model to give her mainly sidelight (hence shadows on the left hand side of her body) and firing across her instead of pointing down, so there is no real shadow cast on the ground. The bit of shadow that actually is cast, is partially burnt out by the background exposure.

I love this but I keep thinking, "Where's her sahdow?" The shadow from the trees and the lighting on the, er, wood nymph, yea, that's it, wood nymph, just don't match. It's still a great photo. (Now won't I be embarassed if this is not one of ISO's great PS pics!) - Pops

Some exciting fauna can be found in your British woods ...

Dear iso: I actually immediately figured this one to be one of yours also. I love the high flying spirit shown here in a non-traditional setting for her clothing...excellent idea, excellent capture. Best wishes, Traveller
