Mop at Rest
Not for Voting

Thank you JNC & Olaf for the inspiration :) The best I could do without the retro chair and linoleum floor! LOL! ;)

Lonnit created this image upon inspiration from jnconradie's 4th place entry and challenge from Olaf. Lonnit moved the image to pending during the challenge and it was not part of the voting. While it was inspired by another challenge entry, it is very much so it's own extraordinary image making its own statement.

As C67 host, I wanted the image returned to the Eligible Gallery upon close of voting as a permanent part of the challenge record. This is what it is all about, in my humble opinion, this is why I'm here...the sharing, the comraderie, the photography. -Michael

Well, you did it, didn't you...and you just soared with a different interpretation :-). I admit that I love this type of image, both yours and jnc's. So many beautiful tones in the b&w, all those complex horizontal and vertical lines broken by the slanting mop handle. Nicely done. -Michael

J, I'm glad you're flattered and not insulted or upset. I'd, of course, never do a direct copy. This is my version of "lean a cleaning tool against a chair". Now, that makes me think that would be a good challenge - list 5 common items (that we most likely all have lying arond the house) and we must include at least 3 of them in the image. I'd love to see what we all make of the same objects.

As for the Rockwell image, this in no way even crossed my mind to be Rockwellian. That image was acreaming for that treatment. I think you're just thinking that way b/c you recognize the items. It's ok that you don't care for this treatment. :)

Your shot is excellent and you should be very proud of yourself. It's the very best it can be. Who can hope for more than that in an image? Work like that will indeed inspire people. Keep it up! :) ~ Lonnit

Lonnit, I am of course deeply flattered to have provided some inspiration...

The moment that I saw the picture, my mind went racing back to your winning entry for Challenge #57 ("What's Cookin'? - a modern Rockwell")... same window, same cupboards, even same chair, I think. And then I could not helping thinking this picture would probably (IMHO) have been more impactful if given that same type of treatment?

Wow, I still cannot believe that the person who won Challenge #57 (which also happen to have been the first challenge I entered), has now found one of my attempts a source of inspiration! :-) ~jnconradie

I actually had no intention of doing this in BW b/c I wanted it to be as opposite from J's as possible. During the processing, I took a glimpse of how it might look in BW, and there was no turning back - this was screaming for it. ~ Lonnit
