Thanks for your very supportive comments, I hope this is not too intense so as to make people feel a little uneasy or sad. I cannot help but associate Repose with the ultimate rest and these medals have not seen the light of day for some 60 years. A spontaneous thought and this challenge led me to this composition. Regards Bob.

The image shows how time fades the terrible sting of an untimely death. The beautiful fading color reminds us of this and gives the image another dimension. shu

Bob, I didn't see the original entry, but this version is beautifully done. An excellent tribute to your uncle. -Michael

A very personal and very appropriate interpretation of the topic Bob and some nicely executed Photoshop work

Well, this is a hell of an image and a loving sign of respect duly earned. Best Wishes, Traveller

Hi Trav, I Just had to blend in the top of some of the medal ribbons which had distracting threads showing at the top. I actually used 6 separate exposures for this. One for each medal, one for the smoke and one for the letter. Used filtered light from a reflector lamp with cardboard extended hood to produce more of a "point source" low intensity light against black card backdrop. Then used shadow masks etc. Regards, Bob.

Dear Bob: Is it possible to link the original or post it here in comments? I'd be very curious to see the changes. Best Wishes, Traveller

Ahh, much better. As for pbase, if you try to upload an image with the same name, it can get confused. Simply change the file name by a letter or so, then use the replace image button and you shouldn't have any problem. ~ Lonnit
