Traveller, it's my arm and I took the photo with a remote release. Is that your question or are you looking for a more existential reply? Yes, my arm is twisted. I tried several different arm positions and liked this the best because of the interplay of light and shadow on the arm. Hey, no buldge, no hilight and shadow, it was just a choice :-) -Michael

What the Heck, I'll finally ask. Who does the arm belong to? There is a little muscle buldge in the middle of the forearm that...has always bothered me...Okay, I admit it, I'm wierd. I wonder if it is the way the arm has to twist? Hummm...if you took the picture, who's arm is it? Best Wishes, Traveller

I like the B&W treatment and the clever idea. I also appreciate the fact the photo required a good amount of thinking and post processing. Matt.

Awesome image. Very well done indeed! (*) with the choice of background, was wodering if it would look best with just the plain ole cluody sky without the landscape showing.

FANTASTIC! I would still like a little color - even if it is just a selective light blue in the jeans. But I love it as it is. Cindy

Debbi, I'd describe the original background as "empty garage" more than "chromakey". No pen, just the mouse and a bit of patience. I'm finding that masking the layers works best for me. I'll try to post the original jeans photo before the challenge is over. -Michael

Chromakey background?

Michael, You are one great Photoshopper!! I looked for 'cut & paste' hints and to me this just didn't look like it. That is a huge compliment to your skills! Pen tool or ?? I wasn't knocking that it looked like a studio shot, quite the opposite! Perfect lighting!!

Thank you all, sincerely, for the kind words.

iso - "Puffy shot", LOL. I can live with that :-)

Lonnit - thank you for mentioning the painting feel of the background, I'm so glad that it spoke to you. I'm striving (struggling?) to find my own style. Adding a more painterly feel to my images is a very strong part of that goal.

shu - yup, the hand is really in the pocket...and I had a lot of fun with some silly outtakes too :-)

debbi - no mysteries here, I don't mind telling you before the challenge concludes. This is a composite of two images. Since I live right on the Pacific coast of the SF peninsula, my local sky is most often fog this time of year. However, the bay side of the peninsula gets clearer skies and more defined clouds. The jeans, washline, arm are one shot taken at home, the sky another shot taken away from the coast...merged together in PS. I'm comfortable with the "studio" look because I'm aiming for a somewhat flat perspective...similar to a Grant Wood feel.

Vikas - yes, now that I've found my surreal voice, I think it will be with me for some time to come.

Again, thank you all for the kind words. -Michael

I love it. Now is pantsman unclipping himself to escape or is he clipping himself on tighter to keep from falling? Very nifty! Jim H.

Fabulous shot; love it. Would have been great in the surreal contest too. :-)

Cheers, Vikas.

Wonderful idea. Definitely looks like a 'studio' shot. When the contest is over will you expalin the background. Is it a projection?

WOW! I find myself studying every detail in this image. Should I ask? Is there really a hand in that pocket???? shu

Oh, PUFFY! Absolutely fab image - love the way the sky looks like a painting as well. Extreme creativity going on here! Applause, applause, applause! ~ Lonnit

I was sure there's be a few washing line shots in the galleries, in fact I had a photoshop effort brewing myself :) Instantly recognisable as a Puffy shot, and all normal Puffy type compliments and praise is applicable .
