untitled*

San Francisco Museum of Modern Art

Taken with my first digital camera, during the first month of ownership.
Post-processing done to this: I got around a white-balance problem by some degree of desaturating everything, except the blue sky. Also, I corrected the barrel-distortion of the lens, using panotools software.
The framing is as shot.

Camerashy, thanks! I got my first camera, an Olympus AF-1 (point'n'shoot), in 1987. I grew out of it quickly and got my first SLR (an Olympus OM-2S) in 1988, so I did have some photo-experience before digital. Didn't shoot a lot during the 90's, but rediscovered photography after getting my Canon G1 on December 9th, year 2000.

Perhaps the eye behind this shot, was more of an architect's eye than a photographer's. I'd noticed how the bridge did not seem transparent when walking on it, but very transparent when looking straight up or down. I don't care for heights and wouldn't like to walk this high up had it been glass for example. I felt the architect (Mario Botta) did very well in this respect. I took this shot to show the transparency and another to show the opacity when walking on the bridge.

Evidently, you've always had a good eye for images. Did you have much experience with photography before you went digital? Its a wonderful shot. You're post processissing worked very well.

Thanks Traveller, for the kind words. This would have been perfect for the looking up challenge, but I didn't think of it at the time...
