Beautiful phaph! Not familiar with this variety which has really deep rich colours and a contrasting yellow-green center. The bokeh is just wonderful. I've looked long and hard at this lens and this image is the most persuasive argument yet. ~kt

Thanks all.
Cindy - not sure if butterflies are attracted to this flower.
Victor - clueless when comes to naming/identifying flowers/plants/trees.
Lonnit - was debating between this and 5D...decided to go the 1Dn...following was the thought process
- 5D is full frame, 1DN 1.3...didnt really care much for full frame as my comfort level is in the telephoto range. I am not much of a wide angle/landscape shooter.
- Spot metering ... both have them.
- focusing...this where I think 1D shines. Its really fast and accurate .. especially sports/nature (birding).
- Liked the overall build quality and weather proofing on the 1DN
- Price difference about $500...if you add the battery grip on 5D...you are getting really close to 1DN in terms of price.
Traded the 20D to this (my local camera shop gave me $1000 for the 1 year old 20d) a couple of months back.
No regrets...one thing...this sucker is heavy.
Alex - Totally agree...the 135/2L and 85/1.2L are awesome.

My husband is absolutely going to kill me when I tell him I need that camera! So unfair that I'm drooling over it when I've got my brand-spanking-new 5D right here! LOL! ~ LOnnit

That's one of the best flower photos I've ever seen. It positively glows. The nice background is an excellent compliment to the plant making the composition wonderful. Jim H.

Nice picture. Looks like a cross between Paphiopedilum maudiae and P. sukhakulii. Am I close? In highschool I had a plant of P. sukhakulii that I used to test a powerful rig. With rubber bands I attached my 50mm lens in reverse in front of my 400mm lens. See the hairs along the edges of the petals? With that rig, those hairs pretty much filled the frame. -- Victor

That is wonderful. Just think if you could get a butterfly and flower in the same frame that were very similar . . . Start looking!!! lol. The colors in this are fantastic. Cindy
