11th Place
traditional martini *
by Michael Puff

OK, I realize there are other martini glasses in this challenge but I had the idea last weekend and bought olives. I just couldn't let the challenge go by without trying it. The title is, of course, a play off of Ann's "New Age" martini.

A very classy image as usual Michael. Having tried to fire a flash at just the right time
I know how much patience it needs.

Traveller, but this is traditional for me...I'm an olive aficionado and always ask for extra olives, queens, if you please :-)

Ann, I too love a good dry martini, but they are few and far between these days. As a good Californian, I try to help boost our local economy with purchases of that essential food group "wine". I got a number of shots with an olive in the air and I got a number of shots with a splash...both at the same time was a real trial. After a couple hundred shots, I can now say that I'm fairly adept at the timing of releasing the shutter while sending multiple olives airborn.

Pops, I'm a Tanqueray man myself, but Bombay Sapphire will certainly do in a pinch :-) I've also learned that a lens hood is excellent for keeping splashes off the lens.

Victor, yup, it's green glass. The martini glasses came with glass olive skewers that have a faux green glass olive at the end. I've never dabbled at trying to create my own drink, my bartender's guide already boggles my mind, LOL!

Thanks all, -Michael

Sound like you like similar drinks to what I like. Do you ever have a drink just because of it's name? Have you ever named a drink? I have one that I call a triple-G or GGG. It's a Greyhound made with Grey Goose. One of my favorite drinks that for some reason is rarely made is gin and cranberry juice (with lime). The flavor reminds me of tangerines.

Nice picture, by the way. However, I'm curious about the green. It looks like a candy, in which case I'd think it doesn't belong. So it's probably glass. Am I right?

If it doesn't get PTKitty drinking again it will keep me drinking. Where did I put that Grey Goose? Whoa! Maybe I should be looking for the Bombay Saphire Gin?

Oh yum! This is almost enough to get me to start drinking again. ;-) But no... I'm off for the year. I do love martinis though. Great catch with the olive in the air. Ann

Dearest Michael: This is not a traditional Martini at all...there are way too many olives...lol. Still, this is a lovely image and the "splash," is a great catch. Ummmm, good. Not the gin, but I do have a fondness for olives. Best Wishes, Traveller
