A nice and very personal feeling image, Gaye. The hat feels like a part of the family! Tim A

Jason, an Akubra is a national icon here. It's like a cowboy hat, but it's made from felted rabbit fur. This one belongs to my American born husband. I bought it for him as a gift years ago. He doesn't wear it much but it makes a great photo prop!

Heh, you make me miss my old wool-felt fedora I wore on long hikes and climbs. It looked silly on me http://www.nightyear.net/gallery/albums/Favorites/Me_at_the_top_of_the_world.jpg) but less so than me with a lobster's sunburn. I hung it on the top of my tent one night, woke up and found a marmot munching on it. Apparently it'd had enough sunscreen on it to be a tasty treat.

I love the textures in the image. The wool-felt, the leather band done in a kind of alligator pattern, and fleece for the background, right?

I was getting the clear difference between the hat and the background on Mrs. Pops computer (Vaio laptop) while on my new Samsung LCD monitor it wasn't as clear. I did some adjustments on my monitor and now it looks much better. I'm still getting used to the new monitor.

On both my monitors at home and work (LCD and CRT) there is a definite distinction between the hat and the background. Apparently on others the hat brim fades into the background. This also looks way better on a lighter backdrop than the dull grey of the gallery.

This looks a lot better on Mrs. Pops monitor than it does on my new monitor. Guess I'm going to have to do some adjustments. Instantly recognised it as yours, Gayle. Nice - Pops

Took me a long time to figure out what this is. Perhaps because that kind of hat is not very common around here. interesting composition and nicely lit.
