I think this both looks better and qualifies more as a low-key shot with a slight levels adjustment to bring down the shadows. Try an adjustment layer with the RGB input Levels set to 15, 1.10 and 255 and see what you think. Another positive side-effect of that adjustment: the noise in the background becomes less visible.
