What a lovely timeless shot. Really beautifully composed, exposed and framed. Tim.

Thanks, Bruce. It's a great title...I suppose if anything was going to show fringing, this location would do it, LOL! -Michael

Check it out: The purple finging tunnel of doom. LOL! http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/canon/eos_5d-review/gallery.shtml

Thanks to all for the comments. I often walk this route when I'm on campus. The image (without skate boarder) came immediately to mind the moment Sharon announced the topic.

Bruce, I found the Digital Camera Resource site but I couldn't find the test image. If you happen to know the camera used for the test, I'd enjoy seeing their take on the view. The Quad arches are often photographed, but each view seems so different depending on the light. BTW, no fringe on the EF-S 10-22 :-)

aam1234, the exposure wasn't too tricky. I shoot raw, exposed for the highlights, developed 2 versions in ACR (one for shadows, one for highlights) and merged the two together using layer masks to keep the best of both.

-Michael

I've seen this before . . . It's the "purple fringe" testing picture from the Digital Camera Resource Page! I like your rendition much better.

The exposure must have been very tricky yet you got it right. What an excellent photo and B&W treatment --- aam1234

Excellent, Michael! This would have been fine for the topic with just the arches but is much more interesting with the skate boarder. Good work! ~Sharon
