Some strawberries left in the freezer for a few weeks in a sealed container grew the most interesting frost. It's just speculation, but I think the layered look of these crystals is due to the repeated defrost cycles of the freezer. Perhaps we can determine how long something's been in the freezer by counting the "frost rings" :)
