Gayle, you folks in Australia have the niftiest creatures! We saw one these fellows in the Sydney Zoo when we were there. And a plattypuss too. And there were Ibises walking around begging for food. And I loved all the parrots and similar birds. The gallahs were gorgeous and the Aussies we met considered them to be pests. You don't see those guys here in the Northwest, though we do have gorgeous bald eagles and beautiful scenery caused by rain, rain, rain... did I say rain? BTW did I say "cool shot" yet? ;-) Ann

Yes, it's an echidna. He was digging ants by the side of the road and buried his head in the dirt when he heard us coming. I was able to get close enough to pull out some weeds that were around him.....he just buried his head further into the ground.
