Splendid idea. I really how you captured the yellows and I agree with everyone about the great touch of that one rose standing up. You might have started a trend here :)

WONDERFUL! And brilliant idea to turn the one in profile. Such vibrant yellows -- one can't help but smile with this one.

Great thinking Michael, and yes, had it been a different color rose, it would have been off topic indeed. ~ Lonnit

Thanks Andy and Lonnit.

Lonnit, my original idea was yellow roses filling the frame with a single coral rose as focal point. I bought the roses Friday as tight buds and they needed a couple of days to open. During that time I've been reading your comments and realized the coral rose would put the image outside the goal of this challenge.

I worked with lots of different arrangements for the roses, lighting sources, and DOF to create a focal point but it just wasn't happening. I was standing there with a rose in my hand and the idea suddently hit me to turn it in profile. So, a frame filled with roses is certainly not original (there's one in the samples you posted), but turning one in a different direction was born from the need for a focal point without using a different color or some negative space. I haven't seen it done before but then I haven't looked either, LOL. -Michael

Yes, I agree. This is very good. The single visible stem makes it.

Brilliant Michael! I love that you turned one rose in the opposite direction! I've never seen that done before. Your original idea? Excellent! ~ Lonnit
