I like this too. The lighting and shadow as well as the background pattern all make this great.

I think this is a great image. This is a bit further down the line of the secondary colour starting to compete too much for attention. Having said that, red dominates and the composition is fabulous.

When I squint, I see the highlight in the green leaf, and the white in the red pot. LOL! You're not helping your case. ;) Look at the image of the red book on the shelf of yellow magazines. In that image the red is the least color, but yet it dominates. It's not always a matter of quantity. There's enough green here, and it's bright enough, that it really catches your attention, making the red and green compete with eachother - that's why I can't figure out which is dominant. It seems to be a very fair fight between them - only the voters will decide if one of them overpowers the other. :) Either way, it's still nicely done. :) ~ Lonnit

Lonnit--Try squinting real tight and see which color dominates. In doing so, I see much red with a splash of green. There is more red than green, but we all see it differently and therein lies the fine line dividing the topic from everything else.

Traveller--You are right about the elements used to create this. I propped up a flashlight to spot the leaves and bloom. Red is my favorite color, so I chose it to make this image. Thanks for your nice compliment!

I welcome all critiques! It's an important tool for refinements!

LOL! That's what voting is for. :) ~ Lonnit

lol...well, I disagree with both Lonnit and Grant....I think that Red is the dominant color with a little off set of green. I can even see how you set this shot up, red place mat as background, side lighting ...Flashlight?. I think that it's really very good, but with the cavat that I think that your blue bottle image in Exhibition is a little better. But I want you to understand that this is just choosing between two great Shu images. Best Wishes, Traveller

Is this the story of a red setting with contrasting green leaves, or is the story of green leaves in a red setting? I can't decide which is dominant, which means to me that neither are. Again a very nice image, but I'm not shouting, "Look at all that red!" when I gaze upon it. It'd be wonderful for a contrasting color challenge. :) ~ Lonit

Thanks, Grant. As always, it's a matter of interpretation. "Dominent" is a matter of degree and the red clearly dominates. Thanks for the comment! shu

Shu,

This is a nice image but I think the green makes it off-topic.
