Very elegant. -Michael

Thanks Victor and Grant. I will try the two options you've suggested and see if I can sharpen the lines and reduce the texture. If I can I will post a new version, or keep this. -Cat

Another option is to duplicate the image on another layer and run the duplicate through the "median" filter until the texture is gone. The just erase the areas over the lines with a small brush with hardness 0. Then flatten and enjoy!

Lonnit, In this case, the line can be made sharper without affecting the texture much by using a threshold of around 10, radius 0.3 and amount to suit. The threshold keeps the relatively low contrast texture from being enhanced. One could then use levels or curves to lighten the sharper line if desired. -- Victor

Thanks Victor, Olaf, and Lonnit.... Sometimes one needs look at a changed version and sleep on it to realize that may be the first version was already final. Thanks for your help in choosing. The earlier version is back. -Cat

Hmmm... it brought out too much texture and darkness. Sigh... I went nuts with my pipe image too, trying to make it as high key as possible yet smooth and delicate. What I'd like to see here is exactly the same as what I was trying to achieve with mine. Perhaps a levels adjustment to bring up the overall whiteness, with the line fainter. The texture shouldn't be visible. Your original was much closer to what I'm talking about, but what I was hoping to see was the line looking a tad sharper. I'm sorry. ~ Lonnit

Thanks Grant. I am glad you think this is minimal. Lonnit, notice any difference now? -Cat

Thanks for the suggestion Lonnit! I will see what I can do to make it better... -Cat

Well done! I'd like to see it a bit crisper though - either more contrast or more sharpening. The softness is lessening the impact. Good eye! ~ Lonnit

Yes I saw it Victor, and my comments are in!
So you decoded the "math" in this ole postal envelope photo!! I am so glad somebody did!! See my other entries: String, Phi, Time.. that tells me I need to move one of these to exhibition otherwise I would have 4 here... -Cat

My entry is up. It's called Prime Yolk. Don't read the description if you want to figure out why I named it what I named it. -- Victor

Guest 22-Nov-2005 14:19

Wow. This shape comes amazingly close to something I've been designing today for my next entry. Only in my case, the lines will be absent. Stay tuned. I'll explain myself in more detail after I submit my entry. -- Victor
