I like the inclusion of circles and curves in this photo. The shallow DOF gave it a 3-D effect. Nicely seen and taken.

So a centered picture cannot be minimalism? My first entry was deliberately centered to be as minimalistic as possible. -- Victor

I hate to sound like a party pooper but the centered nature of the composition and the way that the door handle nearly fills the frame do not seem like minimalism and kind of leaves me flat.

Larry - I like this image a lot. I do agree that the wood grain would have detracted from the spiral, which is now the main focal point. -- Jeannie (jburly)

I see your point, it does sort of give a sense of being drawn into the spiral. --Melanie (mlynn)

Very nice Larry. I like the shallow DOF too -Cat

Thank you all for the feedback. My intent was to create an effect exactly as CameraShy described. I also took a shot with everything in focus, but I felt the wood grain detracted from the focus on the door handle. Larry

I agree with Melanie. It's a fine image and nice lines for the eye to follow but, a tad too shallow a DOF for my taste. Great that you were able to pick this out as a subject. Markjay

I like this too, partly because the DOF is so shallow. It makes the spiral seem to recede much further into the distance. Color and texture are also very nice. - CameraShy09

I like the spiral and lines of this. Think I would like to see a bit more in focus though... --Melanie

I really like this one Larry. Wish it has a bit more DOF, but it's still very nice --aam1234
