Portrait In Gold (Challenges # 7 or # 37)

I am trying to follow Michael Puff's excellent advice regarding the use of IS lenses. This was shot at 1/10 of a second, hand held, 400asa, +1 and 2/3rds exposure compensation...and I still had to dig like a dog (with curves...Twice!) to get the image out. Nonetheless, this is considerably better than the results I was getting yesterday. I will practice again tomorrow.

I am sure you are correct, Galye, and in retrospect I will try iso 800 tomorrow .

Oh, Gayle, I am such a funny goose! I just went and checked the XT because I was going to write to you that iso tops out at 800, what are you talking about....lol...Well! It does go to 1600 and I read that it is very good....I have never shot an image at 1600...or even 800asa. (See my little note to Michael Puff on Tripod use).

Lord...time for some ZZZZ's on this side of the Pacific. I'm getting dingy. I do have some lovely poitraits from tonight with the 17~85 lens with flash...but that's not the question. And besides, I've always rather liked natural light. Still, I must say that I have learned something new...I have a setting for 1600asa on my camera....lol. Well, that’s the point of the Challenges, to learn things....but who would have thought it would be this? (Laugh) Best Wishes, Traveller

You would have got a much better exposure and less noise at iso1600. Why did you shoot it at iso400?
