I do think this crop works better. I didn't notice that you didn't have an asterisk until after I posted, so I hope that you didn't mind. I am really glad that you didn't light up, and glad that you quit smoking, good job. I was going to have my brother light up for a shot, but both he and I decided it just wasn't worth it. Chris

Thanks Chris, I agree about the crop. ISO, I'd love to see billows of smoke but that means I'd actually have to light the thing up. I quit smoking over 26 years ago and I'm in no hurry to start again! And as this is a last minute quick and dirty entry I don't have time to create smoke and PS it in.

Pops - The harsh lighting is making you look a bit sweaty there. You've got a good angle on the shot, but I think done with more subtlety in the lighting would produce a more mellow relaxed and altogether more rounded image. The blackening of the background is a bit abrupt around your bodyform, and on my monitor (which unfortunately for you has excellent shadow detail) reveals that from your fingers downwards it is a different shade of black (it has a red cast to it) so you may want to check that out. (use the eyedropper if you can's see it)

Personally I want to see big puffs of smoke coming from that thing with the light filtering through it.

I have a tough time getting past the photoshop work to get the black background, I do however appreciate the time and effort to get it to this stage. To me the side of the face and glasses are distracing, I would almost crop the image about a half inch of so above where the cigar meets the cheek. Chris
