Alexi, Traveler, appreciate your counterpoint for the original image. I'm not in love with the background people, which is why I did the "painted" version. I suppose I could have just cloned them out, and may do just that. - Paul

Alex has a point that also crossed my mind...because, except for the clapping woman's eyes, the photograph is very, very good. Best Wishes, Traveller

I like more the original version

Olaf, thanks for your comments. I absolutely agree, in a real painting, at least the faces would be rendered with more detail. I'll have to play some more with the PS filter to see how this looks.

I like the photo and I think the painterly effect suits it well. When I think more about it, for a more believable painting effect, maybe finer brushstrokes should have been applied to the three main characters, or at least their faces? I think that would be more what a painter would do - more detail on the main subject and courser brushstrokes on the background. Just a thought that perhaps could be worthwhile playing with... --Olaf.dk

Traveler, Lonnit, thanks for your comments. Yeah, the water bottle had to go ;-) And I was also amazed at how well the expressions come through despite the brush stroke effect.

And dispite the lack of detail in the faces, the expressions come through flawlessly. Kudos! ~ Lonnit

Nice, I'm glad you pulled out the water bottle also in the "Painting," version. Best Wishes, Traveller

And for those wondering what the "real" photo looks like:

Hi Lonnit, thanks for your comments. It's not my usual subject matter or style, and definitely not my usual choice of post processing. But the straight photograph seemed much too "real." This is really about mood and passion.

Paul - an interesting departure is style for you! It really works because all the mood is retained. Very nice job. ~ Lonnit
