As for what it is - I haven't a clue - it had a single axle with four cast iron wheels equally spaced, with the end of the axle bent about 20 degrees. No other mechanisms were attached to help explain what the gears were used for. - Kelly

I find pictures of this sort very engaging. The only annoyance is that I can't quite figure out what the entire machine is. But that's a nice quality about the picture ... it compells you to want to see more.

I like the pattern and stark contrast between the dark metal and green grass. To my eye, nicely composed as well. -Michael
