Two Boats

Heh... the same ISO800 on this as my other boat shot. Same old story about
the n00b shooting in deep shade one moment, sees some boats and forgets all else. ;-)

I've debated all day whether to upload this, as I'm not sure anyone will buy into it.
I've had this idea of wanting to "hand paint" some photos for awhile now. I don't
have a yen to do real hand painting, but using digital brushes sounded cool. So, that's
what I did. Painted my little heart out. It's a little over the top color-wise, but in
the end I decided I liked it a lot. The other thing I did was to go a little ways back
to my beginnings and added some texture layers, using bump maps.

Nancy, this image is not a "little over the top". It is WAY over the the top, in my humble opinion, and I love it. It's a superb piece, the composition is excellent and your use of color is a vision beyond my ability to achieve but certainly well within my ability to enjoy. Kudos to you for taking this piece "all the way". -Michael

Nancy,

I do like this and am glad you decided to posted it. There is, as was mentioned a warmth coing out of the colors...I also like the almost "jumping out" of the page effect that the boats have -- they seem to be alive). I'd be curious to see it in a high contrast B+W as I feel that would also have good potential....It reminds me of the Jim DeWitt paintings a little...and I could see this "hanging" as a full wall mural type feature in a modern "clean" type building! Very nice & interesting twist on the challenge overall! A+ for creativity & vision.

Nancy. I like the "over-the-top"-ness of it (though, to be honest, I'm not sure I'd have it on my wall!).
It does evoke a hot, bright day and makes me yearn to be away from the dull, greyness of a typical British summer!
