I loved this the first time I saw it in another challenge, I still love it. Great shot, mate.

I have considered cropping out the tank and I think that looks wrong, but there is no chance of catching a fish in this 1/6 sec exposure really... I also agree the bright tank detracts and wonder if a little clever PP might reduce the contrast slightly - but thats a little beyond my current skill level at the moment.
Thanks for the comments - it will help me learn which is my point after all!
I must be following Lonnit along here commenting, so I feel compelled to comment on her comments as well as my first impressions of these photos.
I (as is usual for me) can see two sides to the idea of showing more of the tank. On one hand, we're left wanting to share seeing the "new arrivals". But on the other, I would almost like to see less of the tank because the beauty of this shot is in the child's face (which is just perfectly lit, in my opinion - great job!). The tank is not so pretty seen from this distance and angle and, if anything, would detract more than it would add, so I'd almost like to see only a tiny sliver of it. But if you didn't show enough of it then I wouldn't have a clue as to what the "new arrivals" might actually be. As it is, I can see enough to know it's a fish tank, but not see the fish themselves which would, I think, pull attention away from the boy's face.
Besides, having had fish tanks and photographed them some, I know that it would be hard to make the visible part of the tank more appealing while preserving the perfection of the exposure and lighting on the boy's face. But then again, a fish staring out at the boy would be fun too. I'm no help at all, am I?
