Hanging on

Cambridge UK

This little daisy managed to grow in the tiniest gap in a massive area of concrete. I loved its isolation and the struggle to take hold in such a place. The unlevel horizon and thrown background helped to convay (I hope) a sence of hanging on..

Point taken. Now that you have explained the intent, I find that my feeling of 'distraction' adds to the impression you are after :-)

Tom, your excellent depth of field also conveys the feeling of isolation and "hanging on". I get the impression it could be stepped on or run over at any minute. Very well done.

Thanks for your comments Timothy,

I have a version of this with a level horizon, but I just love the off level version.. I was "trying" to convay some of the feeling of gripping on to life (in the middle of a concrete slab) and the unlevel horizon seems to add to the uncertainty of it.

Lovely shot, needs the artists name though.

Very good - I find the slanted horizon a teeny bit distracting though.
